Elevating, Validating, and Affirming Women of Color & Femme Leaders in the Climate Movement.

Rise to Thrive engages in strategic movement building . We build community, a political home, and a shared ideology around achieving Climate and Environmental Justice with Women & Femmes of Color nationally. We do this by engaging in climate advocacy work using a racial and gender justice lens.  

For Rise to Thrive, movement building is about  bringing together different communities to combine efforts. We don’t believe any movement is winnable in a silo. 


Campaigns

We lead national, state and local campaigns to advocate for the just transition off of fossil fuels and to a 100 percent clean energy economy, while centering the experiences of women of color who are most impacted by climate change and pollution.

Programs & Initiatives

We are dedicated to building a strong community, providing a political home, and fostering a shared ideology centered on achieving Climate and Environmental Justice alongside Women & Femmes of Color on a national scale. We accomplish this through the following methods:

  • We bring together leaders and advocates within our community through convenings and retreats, creating spaces for collaboration, learning, and collective action.

  • We work collaboratively to define and articulate a unified national vision for our collective efforts, ensuring alignment and cohesion in the pursuit of Climate and Environmental Justice.

  • We empower communities disproportionately affected by climate and environmental injustices, equipping them with the necessary resources to drive meaningful change. Within the Environmental and Climate Justice movement, we offer prompt project assistance to Women of Color, fostering their leadership and impact. This support is made possible through our:

    1. Mutual Aid Fund

    2. Professional Development Fund

  • Our goal is to foster a stronger climate justice movement, one that is built on inclusivity, equity, and the active participation of Women of Color and Femmes.

  • We seek to redirect funding and resources to organizations working at the intersection of climate and environmental justice, particularly those led by Women of Color and Femmes.

  • We advocate for a more representative leadership landscape within environmental institutions, ensuring that it mirrors the diversity of our global community.

  • We aim to legitimize the leadership and voices of Women of Color and Femmes within the Climate Justice Movement, recognizing their invaluable contributions.

  • Our vision includes creating a vibrant community, a central hub, and a political home for Women of Color and Femmes within the movement, fostering connection and collaboration. We will champion a unified vision and platform for Climate Justice, led by Women of Color and Femmes, to drive meaningful change on a global scale.
